At ~massbay, we encourage our writers to create characters with any personality type or backstory that inspires them. Darker storylines and themes are welcomeâweâre here to build worlds, and ~massbay is your creative sandbox! We simply ask that you remain respectful of others and include appropriate trigger warnings when needed. If you're not comfortable with darker content, this might not be the right space for you.
Journals can be IC or OOCâfeel free to get creative! However, please avoid using underscores or numbers in your journal names. Each character should have at least one icon uploaded. PBs must be 18+ and follow the five-year age rule. Youâll also need an IC post and a screened OOC post, both friends-locked. Sadly, the internet isnât always kind, and we want to keep this a safe space. Bios should be at least 300 words and can be in paragraph form or bullet pointsâwhatever works best for youâas long as they give a strong sense of who your character is. And donât forget to backdate your entries!
Once you're accepted, you must post an intro within 72 hours. Intros count only if youâve replied to most of the comments, but you donât need to drop them off. If you fail to run the friends button, post an intro, or respond to comments in a timely way, you may be removed.
Roleplaying is, at its heart, a writing-based hobby, and we want to inspire our members to reconnect with that core passion: to write. With that in mind, we ask all writers to complete the following each month:
One narrative piece or one scene/thread with at least one other writer. If you choose to share a scene and prefer it not be visible to all members, you're welcome to lock it for mod viewing only.
And
One interactive post of your choice. This can be anything that encourages engagement with the communityâsuch as a social media-style update, moodboard, mixed media entry, FFA, public journal post, etc. Comments must be enabled, and you should respond to the majority for the post to be counted.
Activity must be dropped off by no later than 8pm central time on the last day of the month. Removals will take place on the first day of the following month. Anyone who has joined the game after the 15th only needs an intro. hiatus' and extensions will be granted on a case-by-case basis - just ask!
initial holds will last until the game opens. after that holds will last for 48hrs. we will not be granting extentions or accepting challenges on holds at this time
currently the character limit is set at 2 characters per player. please disclose your current character when applying for a second. this is on the honor system. please only take on what you can handle!
Harassment and bullying of any kind will not be tolerated â period. While we welcome in-character drama, out-of-character (OOC) drama is absolutely not acceptable. If you have a conflict with someone in the game, using your character to target them is a clear violation of our rules and will not be allowed. You have two options: either avoid interacting with that player, or if they are violating our rules, report the issue to the mods so we can take appropriate action.
If we observe lines being crossed, blurred, or see multiple characters being used to harass another player, we will not hesitate to remove those involved.
We strongly encourage members to avoid engaging with anons, both on and off InsaneJournal. We will not accept complaints from anonymous journals. While we understand it can be intimidating to reach out, please know that bringing concerns to the mods will never result in retaliation. Our goal is to handle all situations fairly and respectfully for everyone involved.
